Minutes from January-June

1-17-11

We talked about who was doing what at each of the upcoming meetings.
Kelly let us know about volunteering at ARTS/West.
Mom's weekend show is planned for Baker center.
March 13th is International Women's Day
Homework assignment is to make a name tag in your medium.

Celia Wetzel paid her dues.
We talked about Mom's Weekend show at Baker.
Cleaning will be March 5th which is also Marsha's birthday.
Art markets are 3rd weekend of the month from April to September.
Talked about field trip to Berea, KY
Decided on October 14th to 16th.

Mom's weekend show is April 30th from 9-5 with set up at Baker center at 8am.

Nancy went over group stuff with new members and review the upcoming projects for each meeting.
Black Friday sale is going to be Friday from 6-2pm on November 25th at the Market on East State. There is a possibility for Saturday too so Nancy will let you know.
Money from show is 50/50 with Children Services to sponsor a family for xmas season.
Berea trip still a go.
Yart sale on October 1st and 2nd...ask Emily
Gorilla Art project this summer. Something small now and then next summer bigger.

Craft Caucus info was amazing and Nancy shared the information with the group. Kelly and Marsha also attended and added input to the conversation. Nancy will post links that can help with business related information.
Black Friday sale is a 2 day show and will be from 6am to 2pm on Friday the 25th and 10am to 4pm on the 26th. The show fee is $30.00 and money will still go to the feed a family project. We need to advertise for this show so think of ideas. A person can do a 1 day show but the fee is still $30.00.
ALPACA holiday show is 10th and 11th of December.
Homecoming show at Baker Center is in the works and Nancy is talking to Sharon about that soon. this will cancel out the Berea trip and the vote was all in favor.
August 26th and 27th is Foothills Art and Blues Festival
July 9th, 10th and 11th is Lilyfest.

Black Friday show

Mark your calendar for November 25th and 26th for our "Black Friday" sale . We will be set up at the Market on State from 6am to 2pm on Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturday. The cost is now $30.00 which includes a table, chairs, and a $10.00 donation to feed a family through Children Services holiday program. Send me an email if you have any questions!

Art Market

A.L.P.A.C.A. to Host Art Market Saturday


The Athens Local Professional Artists and Craftsmen Association (A.L.P.A.C.A) will host its next outdoor Art Market on Saturday, June 18.

Association members will offer local art and crafts for sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Market on State, in conjunction with the Athens Farmers Market. Vendors will feature items such as glasswork, jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts, crafts and children's clothing.

The Art Markets will be held on the third Saturday of the month through September: July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17. The Market on State is located at 1002 E. State St., Athens, Ohio.

A.L.P.A.C.A. formed in 2008 to promote and support local artists. The group sponsors various local exhibits, shows and special events throughout the year, and provides business information and networking for area craftsmen.

Midwest Craft Caucus

Just to let you all know Kelly, Marsha and Nancy are all in Columbus this weekend going to an awsome craft caucus and we are going to bring home a TON of info so please do not forget the next meeting is on Monday June 20th where we will be doing paper making from 6 until 8pm and the info from the show from 5 to 6pm. Meeting are always at ARTS/West in the basement meeting room.
